Training for New Volunteers

All prospective volunteers now complete training in 2 steps.

Step 1: Alongside Essentials

This online training component takes about 35-40 minutes to complete. This course contains an overview of Alongside Families and each volunteer role to help you decide how you want to get involved. Alongside Essentials must be completed before you attend our in-person Foundations Training. You will receive information to access this online training when you register below.

For partner church members: If you wish to view Alongside Essentials before deciding if you want to attend a Foundations Training, please reach out to your church's Alongside Families Ministry Coordinator to request access.

Step 2: Foundations Training

This 3 hour in-person training is required for all volunteer roles. The training equips you to serve isolated children and parents well. Topics include serving isolated families from a biblical perspective, poverty, trauma, cross-cultural relationships, and hosting details.

Upcoming Foundations Training Dates:

Sunday, November 10, 2024, 1pm - 4pm, City Church Offices, 34 Commerce Street, Asheville

If you have questions or are interested in attending a live training event at another time, please contact our Asheville Coordinator: amanda@alongsidefamilies.org
