Welcome to our New Support Line Coordinator, Carey Gordon!
Carey Gordon’s role as Support-Line Coordinator for Alongside Families is in her sweet spot of serving the Lord and those in her community. This role aligns well with her vocational and volunteer values that are built upon meeting people where they are and helping them move toward community, healing and hope.
Carey thrives in encouraging and helping children and families experience and value the image of God in them and His purposes for their lives. Coming alongside struggling people and connecting them to the body of Christ for encouragement and increased flourishing is an underlying theme throughout all she puts her hand to. Her professional roles have included teaching and supporting children with developmental disabilities, retail ownership and management, and working in a local church sharing the gospel through visual communications. Volunteering, which is at the core of her heart, includes mentoring young teen parents; leading large-scale outreaches to vulnerable communities; and providing leadership and guidance through her roles as elder, missions team member, and as a decades-long children’s ministry leader. Helping to create, grow and become a host family in an Alongside Families Circle at her home church, Storyhill Church in Davidson N.C., connected her heart to this incredible family-preservation ministry.
Carey has called Charlotte home since 2001 when she moved from Chicago with her family to the sunny and warm South and has enjoyed the easy access to both the mountains and the beach. In her free time, Carey loves creating for (and with!) friends and family, cheering on Charlotte FC and hanging out on Lake Norman with her husband Bob and their adult children Lissi and Ike, and Ike’s wife Chelsea.
