Exciting Transition for our Asheville Alongside Families Site!

Dear Friends and Partners, 

Since 2022, Alongside Families has had the privilege of serving families in the Asheville area through a team of staff, partner churches, and volunteers who launched a chapter of this ministry in their region to champion family preservation. They have planted seeds of Gospel-centered hope, built meaningful relationships, and created a network of support that reflects the love of Christ.  

Recently, God has opened a door for the ministry in Asheville to grow in a new direction. My Village Ministries, a like-minded, Gospel-centered family preservation organization based in Columbus, Ohio, is expanding into Western North Carolina—with a brand-new site launching in Hickory this fall. At the same time, the Lord has been clearly leading our Alongside Families leadership and board of directors to focus more fully on our work in Mecklenburg County.  

Through an exploratory process, we have sensed God drawing together a regional, Western NC effort to bring the hope of Jesus to families experiencing crisis and isolation in a powerful, collaborative way. In faithful obedience to the calling the Lord has put on Alongside Families in Mecklenburg County—and with a deep desire to see the ministry in Buncombe County continue to grow— we will be transitioning our Asheville site into the care of My Village Ministries.  

We are excited to announce that as of July 7th, our Asheville site will continue their mission as part of My Village Ministries, and under the name: My Village Asheville. My Village Ministries has a long-standing relationship with Alongside Families and shares our passion for equipping the local Church to support families in crisis. Our teams have partnered closely over the years, co-developing many of the tools and approaches that have shaped this ministry. 

There will be no programmatic changes in Asheville. Both organizations are aligned in mission, standards, and values. All currently approved volunteers will continue serving without interruption or retraining. Our Asheville staff team remains fully committed to the Asheville community and will carry forward the same heart, purpose, and passion—now under the banner of My Village Asheville. 

As we approach July 7th, please pray for each detail of this transition and for the powerful work we know that the Lord is carrying out in the Asheville region. You can follow the wonderful work being carried out in Asheville at their new website: myvillageasheville.org.   

We are filled with hope and anticipation for all that God is unfolding in this next chapter and look forward to continuing to collaborate with My Village Ministries to preserve families through the local church in North Carolina. It is a gift to have co-laborers in this work!
