Faithfulness > Fruit

One of our incredible volunteers, Emily L. from Uptown Church, recently had the opportunity to share on the monthly Upstream call, a gathering of family preservation organizations from across the country.

The topic was about being Gospel-centered, which also happens to be one of Alongside Families' core values.

As Emily reflected on what that means in our work, she shared a simple but powerful reminder I immediately wrote in my journal:

In a world that often measures success by numbers, growth, recognition, and results, the Gospel calls us to something deeper.

The New Testament word for Gospel, euangelion, means "good news." It is the announcement that through Jesus, God is making all things new. Being Gospel-centered doesn't mean having all the answers or following a perfect formula. It means faithfully pointing people to Jesus and trusting Him with the outcome.

This reminder feels especially timely.

It can be easy to wonder if the meal mattered, if the prayer made a difference, or if the hosting arrangement changed anything.

Yet God often works through ordinary acts of faithfulness.

A child feels safe. A parent feels seen. A family takes one more step toward stability.

Our calling is not to manufacture fruit.

Our calling is to remain faithful.

We are so grateful for every host family, community friend, family coach, prayer partner, ministry coordinator, support line volunteer and church partner who faithfully serves families each day.

The Gospel is not a formula for success. It is the good news of a King.

And our calling is to faithfully bear witness to Him.
